Most people don’t like having blood drawn—especially children, old people, overweight people and people with

darker skin as their blood vessels tend to be less visible and harder to detect. Infrared (IR) light penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the blood, resulting in a high contrast image between blood vessels and skin.
